The period surrounding a new Android release is always fun for the tech lovers in the crowd. You don’t need to worry about the cost of a new phone yet you still get major updates to the functionality, and sometimes the visuals, of the Android operating system.
Google Pixel devices are already enjoying the Android 15 Beta, which is expected since they’re the first-party hardware option. Other manufacturers haven’t been eligible to offer theirs yet, but Google has finally given the green light, and we have an official list of the companies that will be hopping onto the beta train.
These Are The Android Manufacturers That Are Ready To Send The Android 15 Beta Your Way
Google I/O 2024 started yesterday and had a second phase today, during which the tech giant was able to let us in on the Android manufacturers that have chosen to offer the Android 15 Beta for some of their devices that are currently available. The list is pretty rich and covers most major companies, with a few pretty big names missing.
Here are the Android manufacturers confirmed to be participating in the Android 15 Beta program:
- Honor
- iQOO
- Lenovo
- Nothing
- OnePlus
- Oppo
- Realme
- Sharp
- Tecno
- Vivo
- Xiaomi
However, despite names as niche as Sharp showing up on this list, there’s no word from Samsung, the biggest Android manufacturer on the planet. Asus and Sony are also notably absent, as well as Motorola, though that might find itself bundled under Lenovo since the latter pretty much only specializes in tablets these days.
Which Companies Have Already Launched Their Android 15 Betas?
Several of the companies on this list have already made their betas available between yesterday and today, so let’s talk about those that have and the devices that we know are eligible for trying out the new OS already.
- Honor: The Android 15 Beta is already available for devs testing on the Honor Magic 6 Pro and Honor Magic V2. The company said it will also extend its support to the second beta which should be coming in the summer months. We expected this, but it’s nice to hear the company’s commitment to this.
- iQOO/Vivo: Vivo and iQOO live under the same roof, as the latter is a sub-brand of the former. From today, the Android 15 Beta is available if you’re using an iQOO 12 or a Vivo X100. This is a tiny selection of devices, and it’ll also only be available in India, Malaysia, and Thailand for both. The Vivo will add Hong Kong, Kazakhstan, and Taiwan to the mix, while the iQOO 12 will get Indonesia as its exclusive market.
- Nothing: Nothing’s Android 15 Beta came out for the Nothing Phone 2a yesterday, but not for the Nothing Phone 2, which is an interesting choice.
- OnePlus: After Google, OnePlus beat everyone else to the Android 15 Beta punch, releasing the beta for the OnePlus 12 and OnePlus Open before anyone else on May 14th. However, the company has stated that some aspects of the platform, particularly connectivity options, are currently buggy.
Which Companies Have Announced Plans To Launch Their Android 15 Betas?
At the moment, there are two companies that have said they will launch Android 15 but haven’t given a date yet.
- Tecno: Tecno is a pretty interesting brand to see on this list, but the company has been doing a lot better to improve its reputation of the company when it comes to being modern and playing on the big stage. It’s not certain when the beta will be available, but it’ll be coming to the Tecno Camon 30 Pro 5G.
- Xiaomi: Xiaomi has not made it clear when its Android 15 Beta is going to be available, but we at least know that it’ll be coming to the Xiaomi Pad 6S Pro 12.4, Xiaomi 13T Pro, and Xiaomi 14.
