Since 2021, Genesis has introduced several versions of its X Concept, including coupe, convertible, pseudo-shooting brake, and special speedster variations. Each iteration has been stunning, leaving us eager for the brand to finally produce one of these breathtaking models.
With the Seoul Mobility Show 2025 underway, we’ve seen both coupe and convertible versions based on the G90 platform, and they appear incredibly close to production. With rumors suggesting that production might be confirmed, it’s hard not to get our hopes up—yet, Genesis continues to label them as concepts.
We can’t help but hope that these designs are a preview of the final product. After all, we’re growing tired of being teased with these gorgeous luxury two-door models without any sign of a release.
Still Stunning, But More Realistic
The two new cars revealed are the X Gran Coupe Concept and the X Gran Convertible Concept. While we’ve seen coupe and convertible versions of the X Concepts before, these still maintain the long, low, and wide stance that exudes elegance.
However, there are some key differences this time. The headlights now feature versions of the Genesis parallel design, resembling those on current models, and they no longer split around the grilles.
Additionally, the convertible now sports a conventional grille, replacing the solid panel seen in previous concepts. The pillars on both models also appear thicker, giving them a more realistic, production-ready look than their predecessors.
Other production-style details, such as door handles and exhaust tips integrated into the rear bumper, are also evident. This is particularly interesting since past concepts were believed to be electric.
Genesis mentions that these concepts are based on the G90 flagship sedan, suggesting they likely feature the same twin-turbo V6 engine. For context, the G90 produces 375 horsepower and 391 pound-feet of torque in its standard form, and 409 horsepower and 405 pound-feet of torque with the electric supercharger.
Taking Opulence to a Whole New Level
The previous Genesis X Concepts featured relatively simple interiors, with the focus primarily on the exterior design. However, that’s not the case with these new models.
Both the coupe and convertible boast luxurious, intricately detailed cabins, signaling that these cars might be nearing production. While the dashboard layout closely mirrors that of the G90 sedan, the dash now fully encases the instrument display. What truly stands out, though, is the exceptional quality of the finishes, which leave a lasting impression.
The convertible is inspired by wine and grapes, with indigo-colored leather covering every surface. Even the wood accents have a subtle blueish stain, and the rear bucket-style seats appear just as comfortable as the front ones, with the rear cowls finished in the same indigo hue.
The coupe draws inspiration from olive trees, featuring a green and tan interior with olive wood veneers adorned with olive leaf motifs. Like the convertible, it also includes quilted leather, but this time on the roof liner in addition to the seats.
We really do hope Genesis has green-lit these cars because we’re eager to experience their beauty and comfort in person.
