When you think of extremely timely updates, you’re probably not thinking of Motorola. However, it’s clear that the company has started taking itself a lot more seriously and it wants you to do the same. So, they’ve put out a roadmap showing which devices you can expect to be blessed with Android 15.
At the moment, there’s no actual timeline but if your device is on the list, it’ll be a good enough assurance for now. However, you might quickly notice that a lot of devices don’t show up, including some models that were released this very year. Let’s talk about it.
Motorola Is Going To Be Bringing Android 15 To Several Of Its Smartphones
Android 15 is officially out but there wasn’t much fanfare, especially since the new OS didn’t release alongside the Google Pixel 9 series like most of us expected it to. However, there are devices out there, like the Vivo X Fold 3 Pro, which are already running on a release version of the operating system.
Every major manufacturer needs to start planning for its own Android 15 release and that’s exactly what Motorola is doing. They’re not always the fastest when it comes to updates but there could be hope that this year will be different, as it has already put out a list of its devices which will definitely be getting Android 15. For clarity, this information is available on the support pages for each of these devices and any phones that aren’t on this list simply don’t have any indication of the Android 15 update on their respective support pages. This might not mean that they’re entirely exempt from Android 15, but it could mean they’re simply not in the plans at the moment.
There Are No 2022 Models On The List; The Moto G Play, A 2024 Phone, Is Also Missing
If you happen to use a Motorola phone that was released in 2022, you might notice your smartphone simply isn’t on the list. There’s not a single device from two years ago and that’s pretty tough business if Motorola plans on keeping it that way. In fact, even the Moto G Play (2024), which was released at the start of this year, doesn’t show up on the list.
Motorola has released several Moto G devices that only get a single OS update but that doesn’t fly in the budget smartphone world anymore, especially when a certain South Korean competitor is managing to do six years of updates at a $200 price tag.
