Apple has moved on to the third release of its Apple Intelligence developer betas, with new builds of iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1, and macOS Sequoia 15.1 testable by developers.
The third round replaces the second round, which arrived on August 12, while the first round of the betas landed on July 29.
The third iOS 18.1 and iPadOS 18.1 build number is 22B5034e, replacing 22B5023e. The third macOS Sequoia 15.1 build number is 24B5035e, up from 24B5024e.
The primary difference between the 18.1 and 18 operating system versions is Apple Intelligence, the generative AI and machine learning push by Apple. However, not all of the features of the effort are available in this version for testing.
What has surfaced so far includes a new Siri animation, Type to Siri, a better understanding of queries and contextual awareness, product knowledge, and a swathe of writing tools.
AppleInsider and Apple strongly advise that users do not install test operating systems or other beta or RC software onto “mission-critical” or primary hardware, due to the small chance of issues that could result in the loss of data. Testers should therefore use secondary or non-essential devices and make sure they have sufficient backups of any critical data.
