LG Electronics has revealed its 2025 QNED evo smart TV lineup, with up to 144 Hz refresh rates and 100-inch sizes. If your living room is in need of an upgrade, these should be great LCD TVs when they’re slated to arrive in May.
The QNED evo’s performance comes from combining Mini LED technology with LG’s own Alpha AI processor. This pairing allows for extremely precise control over backlighting, which should lead to much better contrast, deeper blacks, and brighter highlights than any previous LCD TV.
The picture quality is improved by Dynamic QNED Color, LG’s exclusive color technology that uses more than quantum dot displays. This system has apparently been tested by Intertek to achieve 100% color volume, meaning it produces accurate and vibrant colors across the entire spectrum, no matter the lighting in the room. The result is a consistently impressive image, even in difficult viewing conditions.
LG’s AI Picture Pro refines the image using smart algorithms to analyze and improve every scene in real time. This process improves detail and accuracy, delivering picture quality beyond regular LCD performance. A key part of AI Picture Pro, the AI Object Enhancer, detects and sharpens important elements in each frame, like faces and bodies, making them look more natural.
Additionally, Dynamic Tone Mapping Pro adjusts brightness and contrast in small sections of the screen, creating more vivid and realistic visuals. The sound experience is just as impressive, thanks to AI Sound Pro. This feature generates a virtual 9.1.2 surround sound effect using only the TVs’ built-in speakers.
The QNED evo TVs include AI-powered tools designed to adapt to individual preferences. The AI Picture/Sound Wizard, trained on over 1.6 billion image settings and 40 million sound profiles, studies user habits and automatically suggests customized audio and video modes for the best experience. AI Voice ID adds another layer of personalization by recognizing different voices to switch between user profiles and provide tailored content recommendations.
LG AI Concierge uses viewing history and habits to suggest relevant content, while AI Search, powered by a Large Language Model, understands natural language questions for easy content discovery. Integration with Microsoft Copilot makes finding and organizing information simple, even for complex searches. An AI Chatbot also anticipates potential issues and offers quick solutions.
With 4K 144Hz refresh rates and AMD FreeSync Premium, gameplay is incredibly smooth and responsive, reducing stuttering and tearing for a more immersive experience. The LG Gaming Portal has cloud gaming services and built-in webOS apps.
A highlight of the lineup is the QNED9M model, which includes True Wireless technology that was previously only available in LG’s OLED evo M series. This basically sends audio and video signals wirelessly through a Zero Connect Box without any noticeable loss in quality, even at 144Hz, while keeping AMD FreeSync Premium support. This means no cables to deal with.
The 2025 QNED evo TVs come in sizes from 50 inches up to 100 inches, meeting a wide range of preferences. The introduction of the 100-inch model reinforces LG’s focus on delivering premium large-screen viewing. The lineup will launch in May 2025 in Korea, the U.S., and Europe, with a worldwide release planned for the rest of the year.
