This Is Our First Look At Samsung’s New Galaxy A35 and A55

The Samsung Galaxy A55 Looks Like The S24 But With “Key Island”

Phones tend to go through certain processes to be released to the public, and if your device is launching in China, it passes through their TENAA certification database. Thanks to that database and the folks at MySmartPrice, we’ve been able to get a look at the Samsung Galaxy A55 way ahead of its launch.

The phone will look very similar to the Samsung Galaxy S24, with a flat glass front and glass back, flat metal sides, and a triple camera setup in the upper-left corner of the back panel.

To the untrained eye, the phone might be a little difficult to distinguish from the S24, but the new “Key Island” design on A-series Samsung phones makes it distinct. This is a little raised section on the part of the frame where the power button and volume rocker are, making it a “key island.” This is the only portion of the frame that isn’t flat.

The A55 Brings A Few Specification Upgrades, But Just A Few

The Samsung Galaxy A55 is the successor to the Galaxy A54 from last year. While no complete spec sheet has been leaked, we know a little about the specifications to expect, and some will be upgraded over last year’s model.

The A55 will come with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal storage, a 50MP primary camera, a 12MP ultrawide, and a 5MP macro. The selfie camera will be 32MP, and a 5,000 mAh battery will provide the juice for all these. These are all unchanged from the A54.

However, this time, you’ll get a metal frame instead of a plastic one, making the phone feel slightly more premium. The Exynos 1480 will replace last year’s chip, and it should come running Android 14 out of the box. It’s also reported that the screen might get slightly bigger, to a 6.5-inch diagonal. I reckon this might be thanks to shrinking bezels.

Our First Look At The Samsung A35

While the A55 takes all the spotlight, the Samsung Galaxy A35 has also leaked relatively similarly: through a certification agency, but this time in South Korea. It was spotted first by SamMobile, and while the picture provided isn’t fantastic, you can see enough.

The new A-series devices feature many changes, namely a flat frame, a Key Island, and the same triple camera setup. Spec-wise, it’ll come with Android 14, an Exynos 1380, and 6 GB of RAM. It’s also going to support 5G.

As to when this phone will launch as well, we don’t know for sure, but it should be sometime relatively soon, and it will probably launch alongside the A55.
