Microsoft and Qualcomm have been pushing their Arm-based Copilot+ laptops hard over the last year. And while you might associate Snapdragon chips with smartphones, these Snapdragon-based laptops haven’t been especially affordable yet. Today, that trend gets bucked with this Snapdragon X-powered Lenovo laptop for just $510 at Best Buy.
The IdeaPad 5x was already on the cheaper end for first-gen Snapdragon laptops, earning praise from PCWorld reviewer Matt Smith for its excellent value. Today, Best Buy is offering an impressive $350 off, and the resulting price would be pretty darn good for any laptop with 16GB of RAM, a 512GB SSD, and a 2-in-1 touchscreen form factor. Throw in the impressive efficiency of a Snapdragon X Plus processor (which typically starts at the $750 mark) and an OLED screen? It’s a real steal.
This model gets high marks for its build quality and excellent display panel. And though the battery life will beat many 14-inch models based on Intel or AMD, it’s a little less than other Snapdragon designs. At 3.28 pounds, it isn’t the lightest laptop out there, but it’s still pretty competitive with conventional designs. Also note that even for a laptop with integrated graphics, the Snapdragon platform still struggles with gaming — some of the latest 3D titles may not even boot. Just about everything else in Windows 11 should run fine, though.
Unlike some other deep discounts on laptops, Best Buy is offering this one as a new model, not refurbished. It’s also a fairly popular one, so you might be able to get in-store pickup. (My nearest Best Buy has it in stock right now.) That said, these might sell out quickly since I’m sure plenty of people have been waiting to jump on a deal for a new Arm-based laptop. Need an even better deal? Acer has a refurbished laptop with 16GB of RAM for just $276 on eBay, still available as of this writing.
