This Is When Realme’s First Ultra Smartphone Will Be Unveiled

Realme has established itself as one of the most reliable vendors for smartphones, which are affordable but still maintain a solid spec sheet. It’s hardly a company that races to follow the trends—instead, Realme is more of a company that tries to set trends (even if they don’t end up in production devices).

I’m particularly excited as the company is about to release its first-ever device with the Ultra moniker on the end. Looking at the modern smartphone market, Ultra devices mean you get a killer camera, flagship specs, and a ridiculously high price tag. Is that the route Realme will take? Not sure, but we don’t have to wait long to find out.

Realme has decided to follow in the footsteps of Vivo, Xiaomi, and, of course, Samsung and release its first Ultra device. It’ll be called the Realme P3 Ultra, and the OEM has made it official that the smartphone will arrive on March 19th, which is thankfully just around the corner. It will also launch with a regular Realme P3 by its side.

The device’s full look is unknown, but it will have a colored power button, flat sides, and at least two cameras on the back. Realme hasn’t been shy about revealing some of the specs, though. It will be the first phone to launch with the MediaTek Dimensity 8350 Ultra; with a 1.45M+ Antutu score, it’s powerful but not flagship. That could mean this Ultra experience might not be as full-fledged as others (though the price won’t be either).

Realme lets us know the device will have a 6,000mAh battery and 80W fast charging. Along with the Dimensity 8350 Ultra, it will have a 12/256GB storage configuration—potentially the top option—with UFS 3.1 storage. It is also going to be very gaming-oriented, as Realme makes clear it’ll have the biggest vapor chamber in its segment, a 2,500Hz touch sampling rate, and the ability to play PUBG at 90fps smoothly for 3 hours.

Realme Unveiled a Concept Phone That’s Almost a DSLR Camera at MWC 2025

Remember when I said Realme likes to set the trends, not follow them? At the recently concluded MWC 2025 in Barcelona, the company showed off a concept smartphone that allows for interchangeable lenses, just like a full-body camera. It’s not something that’s never been done before (Xiaomi showed something similar at the same event), but the current stance towards smartphone photography could make this a better time than ever.

Now, this is a concept smartphone that is not based on anything that the company currently has available, and there’s a chance that it will never find its way to market in any form (which would be a shame since it seems like a lot of fun). The ability to mount a full-blown DSLR lens on your phone is pretty cool, especially if it extends to non-proprietary options. Theoretically, any lens that uses an M mount could work on this Realme phone.

Of course, there are bound to be some ergonomic concerns when the lens is heavier than the phone itself. However, it’s a concept, and they’re usually not practical in every single aspect. However, Realme did use the word “Ultra” in its lead-up to showing this device at MWC, which makes me wonder whether the P3 Ultra could be a bit closer related to this than I think.
