This Is When The OnePlus Pad 2 Might Launch

OnePlus release date is a big question mark

OnePlus hasn’t officially stated that the Pad 2 is in the works, or even hinted at a launch date. But Journalist, Max Jambor, has announced on his X account that the tablet will come out in the second half of 2024 — meaning anytime from June to December.

It’s hard to make predictions, considering that the first tablet launched in February 2023. The Pad Go variant came out in October that same year. No other clues are available to gauge our expectations. Vague as it sounds, the new tablet will build on the first pad’s features, as do all higher device generations.

The first Pad is undoubtedly among the best Android tablets to exist. But it’s not perfect and we’ve highlighted all the changes we’d like to see on the next model.

What we’re expecting from the OnePlus Pad 2

The OnePlus Pad is aesthetically pleasing and has a larger screen than the average Android tablet. Its OxygenOS is also the best for multitasking, and supports triple split-screen mode among other impressive features. Since the tablet ran on OxygenOS 13.1 (based on Android 13), it’s possible that the newer model will bring version 14 out of the box.

One problem is that the tinier bezels cause frequent unintentional touch inputs. Holding the tablet often triggers touches on the screen’s edges. It’s noticeable and disruptive when using the Pad in portrait mode for reading, browsing, and other tasks.

Also, it comes with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. It’s a decent combination if you’re not overstretching the device’s performance beyond casual gameplay and file management. But there is no microSD card slot, and no options for buying more storage at purchase.

MediaTek’s Dimensity 9000 runs under the hood, and it’s efficient, you will notice that some apps experience stuttering during scrolling. The Pad’s processor, however, does outshine even Google’s Tensor G2 chip, and offers better performance with great power efficiency.

In other news, the OnePlus Nord CE4 is here

The OnePlus Pad 2’s launch date may be uncertain, but there are other releases you can entertain yourself with for the moment. The Nord CE4 smartphone came out this month, and is rumored to be among the highest OnePlus selling phones on Amazon.

The brand says that you’ll get 90% off on their protection package and other discounts if you buy it from their official store online. The device promises smooth performance with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 processor, fast SUPERVOOC charging, and two unique design colors.
