If you’re anything like us, you’ve probably spent a considerable amount of time wondering how big sea monsters are compared to each other. Is the Kraken in Hotel Transylvania bigger than Pacific Rim‘s Slattern? One YouTuber investigated the fictional beasts and put the results in an amazing video.

YouTuber Alvaro Gracia Montoya, aka MetaBallStudios—who has made a slew of other relative size comparison videos, like this one on Fictional Planets—is the genius behind this clever video. These sea creatures (including amphibians) are pulled from a lengthy list of video games, movies, books, TV shows, card games, and comic books. The list excludes extinct monsters, mythological creatures, and mechanical creatures, however.

In the video, we see all kinds of fictional sea monsters from the surprisingly small Plankton in Spongebob Squarepants up to the likes of young Clover in Cloverfield. Of course, the video thoughtfully includes a few indeterminately-sized beasties we don’t know how to measure or only have vague measurements for, like H.P. Lovecraft’s iconic Cthulhu.

Next to each creature’s picture and name are its measurements, and Montoya’s sources for each are listed in the video description. Measurements listed in white have a verified source, but those that are yellow are only approximate descriptions. Can’t get enough of these videos? Dive into the other videos on the MetaBallStudios channel, which includes size comparison vids for movie monsters, fictional starships, asteroids, dragons, and much more.
