The New Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 Looks Just Like The S24 Ultra From The Front
Do you know what a dummy unit of a phone is? Think of it like a physical unit of the device that simply doesn’t work. As the name states, it is a dummy. The good thing about leaks of dummy units though, is that they show you exactly what to expect from the device whenever it decides to launch because they maintain the final design of the phone.
Thanks to TA__Tech on X, we’ve been able to see images of a dummy unit of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6, and thankfully, the provided images show us both the front of the device as well as the inside display when completely unfolded. There’s a notable absence of an image of the back of the device though (there may be identifying information there that the leaker chose not to broadcast.
From looking at the front of the dummy unit, it very clearly confirms that the device will be going for sharper corners, which makes it resemble the S Ultra smartphones a lot more. I have the S22 Ultra and I’m a fan of that design, so I’m a fan of this one too. I think the Z Fold line always needed to be a lot more aggressive-looking if it wants to be taken as the head honcho when it comes to book-style foldables.
The Crease On The Foldable Screen Is Still Very Noticeable
What we can garner from the image with the cover display is interesting enough, but it isn’t anything new. We already knew, thanks to countless leaks, that the Z Fold 6 was going to get more boxy. However, another image of the same dummy unit shows the inside screen of the device, and this is where the fun is.
We heard the Galaxy Z Fold 6 was going to be getting a less noticeable crease though the reasons why weren’t elucidated (for instance, with the Z Flip 6, the smaller crease was said to be due to the South Korean manufacturer implementing thicker ultra-thin glass for the foldable display). However, now, looking at the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6, it’s hard for me to think that this is the less noticeable crease we’ve been promised.
Maybe because this is a dummy unit, it can get away with the thick crease, but a dummy unit is also meant to represent the build of the device even at launch. If this ends up panning out though, it’ll seem like Samsung is still far behind where they’re meant to be.
