Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4 Remake Has A Release Date

Activision has announced that they will be releasing a remake of the classic skateboarding games Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 and 4. Iron Galaxy Studios is working on a remake that will include all the original content from the games but improved similarly to Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2.

We’ve been waiting for a full reveal since the initial teasers in Call of Duty Black Ops 6. This means players can expect to see the original skaters like Tony Hawk, Bucky Lasek, Steve Caballero, Kareem Campbell, Elissa Steamer, Chad Muska, and Rodney Mullen. In addition, the developers are adding new content, which will feature new skaters and parks. Olympic skateboarders Rayssa Leal and Yuto Horigome will be part of the new lineup.

The soundtrack is an important part of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater games. This new version will feature classic songs from bands like Motörhead and Gang Starr and new music that represents today’s skateboarding scene. Additionally, the game will have online multiplayer for up to eight players and will work across different gaming platforms.

The game will build on what was started in the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2 remake, keeping the gameplay simple to learn but challenging to master. Tony Hawk will guide new players through a detailed tutorial. The game will also feature improved Create-a-Skater and Create-a-Park modes, giving players the chance to customize their characters and design their own skateparks. Additionally, there will be a new HAWK mode for competitive play.

The Career Mode will feature levels from the original Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 and 4 games. Classic locations like Foundry, Alcatraz, and College will make a comeback. One of the new levels is called Waterpark, which is an old, dry waterpark in the Mojave Desert. This place has different ride structures that can be used as cool skating obstacles. It features spots like the Lazy River, the Marquee, and the Castle Slide, providing different challenges and chances to score points.

The game’s release comes at a time when people are really getting into skateboarding games again. Games like Skate City, OlliOlli World, and the soon-to-be-released Skate Story are getting a lot of buzz in the indie game scene. Plus, EA is bringing back the Skate series, which makes the competition in this genre even stronger. So, the remake of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 and 4 is launching in a period where skateboarding video games are becoming popular again.

You can play with others across different platforms, with up to eight skaters competing at the same time. Players can also design and customize their skater by choosing looks, hometown, and skating style. Plus, you’ll still find the original game soundtracks included.

I love this series and played Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2 when it was released, and I’m glad to see my favorite (Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 4) being brought back. Now that skating is making a comeback, it’s only a matter of time until the series collabs with Fortnite.

The game is set to launch on July 11, 2024, and will be available on several platforms, including Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC through Battle.net, Steam, and the Microsoft Store. It will also be available on the first day for subscribers of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass.

You can now pre-order the game on the official website, and there are some perks for those who do it early. If you pre-order, you’ll get to try out a demo of the Foundry (but not on Nintendo Switch). The Digital Deluxe Edition gives you three days of early access to the full game, plus extra content like playable characters—the Doom Slayer and a Revenant, each with their own unique moves and outfits, themed skate decks, and extra music for the soundtrack. There’s also a Collector’s Edition that comes with a special Birdhouse skateboard deck.
