TP-Link announced the Tapo HybridCam Duo Dual-Lens C675D KIT at CES 2025. It is a security camera system made for outdoor use using a fixed lens and a pan/tilt lens, with 4K video quality.
The Tapo HybridCam Duo Dual-Lens is great for monitoring large areas, as its 4K resolution can help with both wide views and zoomed in views. The pan/tilt lens can move side to side and up and down, which lets you get a closer look at specific spots or objects. The short lens is for capturing broad spaces, while the longer lens zooms in on distant details. This system is excellent for places like yards, ponds, and farms. The HybridCam Duo is part of the Tapo system and is controlled through the Tapo app. This app lets users manage the camera, watch recordings, and change settings.
We recently reviewed TP-Links’ Tapo C120, an affordable camera that works well indoors and outdoors. It has a single lens that can only record videos up to 2K QHD resolution. The new Tapo HybridCam Duo C675D doubles that resolution. It seems like the company wanted to focus specifically on the outside with this new camera. While the HybridCam Duo can be installed indoors, it may be a waste since it is meant to record distances and movement clearly. There’s also the fact that it needs the solar battery, but there’s probably a way around that.
It’s also important to remember that the US government is looking into TP-Link, a router company originally founded in China, because of national security concerns. There are concerns that certain weaknesses in their devices have been used in cyberattacks linked to China. Several US agencies, including the Commerce, Defense, and Justice Departments, are conducting investigations, and a ban on TP-Link products might happen.
TP-Link has yet to give an exact release date or a price. However, it should be available on the official website when ready.
