tvOS 18.4 now available with new design changes for Apple TV app

Apple has just released a variety of software updates across its platforms, such as iOS 18.4, macOS 15.4, and more. tvOS 18.4 is a relatively minor release, but it does come with some nice enhancements to the Apple TV app. Here’s what’s new.

Apple TV app makes user interface changes in tvOS 18.4

If you use an Apple TV 4K, there’s a good chance that one of your most used apps is the Apple TV app.

Netflix and YouTube likely round out the trio of most popular apps, but the TV app is the one go-to for tvOS users that’s actually built by Apple.

And in tvOS 18.4, Apple has made a few refinements to the user interface.

Some of the most noticeable updates involve the featured title carousel.

At the top of the TV app’s interface, the featured carousel has three noteworthy changes:

  1. there’s a large plus button for easily adding titles to your Watchlist
  2. next to it is a big ‘i’ button for accessing a title’s information page
  3. finally, details on a show’s release schedule is now a lot more prominent

All of these seem small, but during the beta testing period they’ve made for very nice changes that make the app easier to navigate than before.

If you scroll further down in the TV app’s interface, you’ll also find some updated fonts and icons.

For example, certain content sections have special new icon designs. These include:

  • Movies Spotlight
  • Sports
  • Friday Night Baseball on Apple TV+

None of the changes above are particularly huge, but as the Apple TV app gets more and more users, it’s good to see Apple iterate on the app’s design to make it more user-friendly and easy to navigate.
