Cincinnati Bengals cornerback Eli Apple and Tyreek Hill have a history.
It’s a rivalry that will renew on “Thursday Night Football” when the Miami Dolphins visit the Bengals this week.
In advance of that head-to-head matchup, Hill made sure to tell reporters after his team’s Week 3 win that he’s looking forward to the rematch, as he told Andre Fernandez of the Miami Herald:
“I can’t wait to go against Eli Apple. I owe you, boy. I owe you. Cheetah is here”
Joking or not, the two got into a verbal spat on social media after they sparred twice last season when Hill was still a member of the Kansas City Chiefs.
Things really came to a head in the AFC title game when the feud became public.
Another clip of the comments:
Hill has been spectacular this year in his new surroundings. But a year ago, he had just six catches for 40 yards in the Week 16 matchup and seven for 78 and a score in the AFC title game. The latter is more remembered for when Apple made a game-saving tackle at the goal-line on Hill to swing it.
Rest assured we haven’t heard the last from either party before Thursday night.
