As the C-Band issue rumbles on between carriers, airlines, and the government, Verizon has flipped the switch on its C-Band 5G network which it claims will cover more than 100 million people starting from today. You’ll know if you are in an area that has C-Band 5G coverage if your phone is showing the “5G UW” logo.

The activation of the C-Band 5G network means that more people will have access to better network coverage and increased speeds in more areas, starting from today. It may not offer the 1Gbps headlines speeds of mmWave networks, but C-Band offers vastly increased coverage that you can access within buildings and will still bring increased speeds you can access in more places without being in direct line-of-sight of the transmitter.

C-Band is part of Verizon’s 5G UW branding, so you’ll need to be signed up to a plan that includes 5G UW access.

Additionally, the activation of the C-Band network means that up to 20 million households are now covered by Verizon’s 5G Home Internet service. Depending on if you are signed up for a 5G Play More, 5G Do More, or 5G Get More wireless plan, you’ll be able to sign up for Verizon’s 5G Home Internet service and save up to 50%. You could end up paying as little as $25 monthly for the 5G Home product, or $35 for the 5G Home Plus product.

You’ll also get a bunch of perks thrown in such as a year’s subscription to Disney and AMC+, a Google Nest Mini or Hub Max, and a Verizon Stream TV device. Not to mention a month’s free service on Verizon’s dime.
