ViewSonic VX2728J pros and cons

Pros

  • 27-inch display with 180Hz refresh rate
  • Adjustable stand

Cons

Design

Starting with the design, the ViewSonic VX2728J comes with a minimalistic design, looking like a regular monitor. This allows you to use it while working without having to worry about a flash design or RGB lights.

It features a lightweight design, weighing just 4.7 kg with the stand, allowing you to easily move and carry it around with you if needed.

The monitor features an all-plastic back in black colour. It comes with thin bezels on the three sides with a large chin at the bottom. The chin features ViewSonic branding.

You also get the ViewSonic branding at the back, which is much larger than the front. The stand allows you to adjust the monitor’s height and angle. It allows you to swivel, tilt and even pivot the monitor based on your preference.

I tried to adjust the monitor to different heights and angles while using it and found that it is quite easy to do so.

Display and performance

Coming to the display, the ViewSonic VX2728J monitor features a 27-inch IPS panel with a 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution. It offers a refresh rate of 180 Hz, 250 nits of brightness and a response time of 0.5ms.

The monitor comes with AMD FreeSync Premium and VESA Adaptive Sync. These technologies ensure that you can have a blur-free gaming experience with minimal stuttering and no tearing.

While the 180Hz refresh rate makes it a treat to play fast-paced FPS games.

I played fast-paced games like Counter Strike: Global Offensive and PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds on the monitor.

I enjoyed playing both the games and while there were no stutters or tearing, the low-pixel density is sometimes visible in PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds. It would have been great to have a higher resolution panel but the VX2728J manages to offer a good gaming experience.

The monitor comes with several pre-sets, including FPS Game, RTS Game, Movie and more, allowing you to easily set the settings for your favourite game.

Verdict

If you are a casual gamer in the market for a monitor with a large display and a high refresh rate under ₹20,000, the ViewSonic VX2728J is a good option. Do note that you will have to make-do with a Full HD display. If this is not a deal breaker, you can go ahead with the purchase.
