In Part III of our offseason look at Virginia Tech men’s basketball, it’s time to focus on what is ahead for next season. One of the biggest differences, as you’ll see, is depth and versatility. Each year, Mike Young has improved his roster in those two areas. Unfortunately, Tech wasn’t able to showcase that last season due to injuries and absences across the board.

So let’s dive into the roster for the 2023-24 season. There are four distinct positions within the program: point guard (“PG” or “1”), 2 wings, a power forward (“4”) and a center (“5”). The wings are interchangeable and thus are grouped into one position group, but the others have distinct skill sets and jobs to perform.
