Apple has released a trio of new betas today. Developer beta 1 is here for visionOS 2.2, tvOS 18.2, and watchOS 11.2. Here’s what to expect.
Beta 1 debuts with expectations for new Vision Pro and Apple TV features
Today’s new betas are available for users with a developer account. They offer the first glimpse at new features and updates expected to launch publicly in December.
Last week’s public launches of visionOS 2.1, tvOS 18.1, and watchOS 11.1 didn’t include many new features. The biggest highlight, perhaps, was a small tvOS change to the Apple TV app that added a new Watchlist.
Expect to see more feature additions in today’s updates, however.
Apple has announced several features for visionOS 2 and tvOS 18 that were slated for release before the end of the year, and that makes these updates the place we should get them.
For example, we’re still expecting Vision Pro’s upgraded Mac Virtual Display feature with support for an ultra-wide view and higher resolution. That should arrive in visionOS 2.2, hopefully even in this first beta.
tvOS is still waiting on new screensavers set for late 2024. There’s a TV and Movies screensaver coming, plus a fun Snoopy screensaver—both of which should arrive in tvOS 18.2.
We’ll keep you posted on the new features we discover in the new betas across all platforms.
