At the Bitcoin Policy Institute event, Vivek Ramaswamy made a bold case for Bitcoin, calling it more than just an investment — he sees it as a symbol of American freedom, innovation, and resilience.
He urged the U.S. to adopt Bitcoin as a strategic reserve, arguing that doing so would help maintain the country’s leadership in the global economy and technology sector. According to Ramaswamy, Bitcoin represents core American values.
“We don’t have a shared race or religion, but we do have a shared creed—one built on individual liberty and the ability to chart our own destiny,” he said. “But this moment is about more than just financial strategy—it’s about American identity. What binds us as a nation? Not race, religion, or a shared ancestry, but a creed—a belief in individual liberty and the right to pursue success without bureaucratic interference. Bitcoin embodies that same ethos: sovereignty, self-reliance, and an unbreakable financial system.”
Ramaswamy believes private institutions will be the first to adopt Bitcoin as a reserve asset before sovereign nations inevitably follow suit.
“This is not just a ‘Bitcoin to the moon’ mantra—it is a fundamental argument grounded in economic first principles. Institutions must make decisions under conditions of capital scarcity, ensuring hurdle rates for return. My prediction? The private sector will adopt Bitcoin first, moving rapidly toward it before sovereign nations inevitably follow. What seems unthinkable today will be obvious in hindsight,” he added.
He warned that policymakers should not weaponize regulations to stamp out competition in the crypto sector. He instead advocated for a free-market approach—one that allows innovation to flourish without excess red tape.
“Regulations should preserve competition, not stifle it. If Bitcoin represents the spirit of American freedom, we must ensure our policies reflect that same principle. We are entering a new golden age for innovation, and Bitcoin will be a cornerstone of that future.”
