Anyone wanting a new Apple Studio Display needs to be patient. Order the high-end display now and you could be waiting until August for it. The accessory has apparently run into COVID-related production problems in China.

Unfortunately, there are several other Apple devices with very long wait times.

Apple Studio Display wait time is now 8 to 10 weeks

The Apple Studio Display generated a lot of buzz when it was unveiled in March. The 27-inch 5K monitor features TrueTone, P3 wide color gamut, studio-quality microphones and a six-speaker sound system.

Currently, it also features a long wait time as demand greatly exceeds Apple’s supply.

An order placed on Tuesday, May 24 on the U.S. Apple Store for the basic Studio Display won’t ship for 8–10 weeks, according to Apple. That puts the delivery as late at August 2. Or the unit can be picked up at a nearby Apple retail store on August 8.

    Blame it on COVID-19

The Apple Studio Display is assembled by Quanta Computing in China. And efforts by the Chinese government to control the spread of COVID-19 have lead to lockdowns and other restrictions that are hindering assembly of several Apple products at Quanta’s Shanghai facilities. There was even a riot there in early May. As a result, buyers of Apple’s latest display are facing long wait times.

The same is true for other Apple products. A 2021 MacBook Pro ordered now won’t arrive before the second half of July, for example. The wait for a Mac Studio is just as long.
