Domino’s Pizza will use over 800 Chevy Bolt EVs for delivery in 2023.
If you want to test drive an electric vehicle for the first time, get a job at Domino’s Pizza. That’s because the huge fast-food Pizza company announced it will add nearly 800 Chevy Bolt electric vehicles to its delivery fleet in 2023.
Domino’s Pizza is no stranger to testing out wild ideas for getting customers a crispy, greasy, hot Pizza as fast as possible. From those “DXP” delivery vehicles with a built-in warming oven to even testing electric bike delivery riders in select locations.
Here’s what CEO Russel Weiner had to say:
“Domino’s has always been on the cutting edge of pizza delivery, and electric delivery cars make sense as vehicle technology continues to evolve. We’ve made a commitment to net-zero carbon emissions by 2050, and this is one way we can begin reducing our environmental impact, one delivery at a time.”
Domino’s is stepping things up even further by going all-in on electric cars. The company hopes that using the Chevy Bolt EV will be faster, more efficient, and more affordable, all while cutting down on emissions and the carbon footprint.
As of today, the company currently uses over 100 Chevrolet Bolt electric vehicles at select locations nationwide. However, within the next few months, it’ll rapidly expand the delivery fleet with more than 700 more. The goal is to employ many Domino’s Pizza drivers to deliver fresh food in over 800 electric cars.
So, if you’ve always wanted to test out an EV, one of the easiest ways could be to deliver food at Domino’s Pizza. The company mentioned that switching to EVs could lower its carbon footprint while saving money on maintenance and gas. Hopefully, that means fewer price increases on Pizza moving forward.
Good thing Chevrolet and GM figured out the firey recall on its Chevy Bolt. Otherwise, you could end up with one extra crispy slice of pie.
You can expect to see Domino’s EV commercials in the coming weeks and months. Plus, if you want to drive your own but would rather not be a delivery driver, the Pizza company is even giving away a Chevy Bolt EV to a lucky customer.
Once the EV delivery rollout is complete in 2023, it’ll be the biggest EV delivery fleet in the Pizza business.
