Watch out for the rat tidal wave in this A Plague Tale: Requiem announcement

The story is not over. A Plague Tale: Requiem, the sequel to A Plague Tale: Innoncence, will be an Xbox console exclusive and is targeting a 2022 release date.

The game will once again follow Amicia and her brother Hugo as they embark on a new quest. Like other E3 announcements, the title leaked early in a Resetera thread, although its been heavily rumored since around 2019 that a sequel was in the works. Not much else is known about the game’s plot, but it looks like it’ll be a direct sequel to the first game in a new location. Amicia and Hugo are also more battle-ready this time around, with Hugo seemingly more in control of his powers.

Requiem will be an Xbox console exclusive and will be optimized for the Xbox Series X|S. It’ll be available on consoles and Windows 10 PCs and on Xbox Game Pass day one.

A Plague Tale: Innocence follows the two siblings, with Amicia attempting to take care of her ill younger brother after Inquisition troops begin to seek after Hugo. All of this takes place during a brutal plague — known in the game as the black plague but not exactly historically accurate — that seems to impact rats, and can therefore impact humans and other animals once bitten. The game is a stealth adventure game with some horror and supernatural elements, especially when it comes to the depiction of the plague itself. Be warned there is a lot of gore.

In the meantime, while you wait for A Plague Tale: Requiem you should check out A Plague Tale: Innoncence, which is already on Xbox Game Pass.
