One of the most exciting times of the year for Apple fans is swiftly approaching. WWDC is held every June as Apple’s showcase for the next year of its software platforms. This year, Apple will announce iOS 19, watchOS 11, macOS 16, and more at WWDC.
When will Apple announce and hold WWDC 2025? Here’s what history tells us …
WWDC announcement dates
Apple generally announces WWDC in March. Here’s when those announcements have occurred over the last several years:
- 2017: February 16
- 2018: March 13
- 2019: March 14
- 2020: March 13
- 2021: March 30
- 2022: April 5
- 2023: March 29
- 2024: March 26
Apple has set a consistent pattern in recent years, so I expect WWDC 2025 to be announced sometime in the last week of March.
When will WWDC 2025 take place?
WWDC is generally held during the first or second week of June. Here are the dates for previous WWDC festivities:
- 2017: June 5-9
- 2018: June 4-8
- 2019: June 3-7
- 2020: June 22-26
- 2021: June 7-11
- 2022: June 6-10
- 2023: June 5-9
- 2024: June 10-14
However, one thing to keep in mind is that Apple has fallen behind on shipping features initially announced as part of iOS 18 at last year’s WWDC. The most advanced updates to Siri aren’t expected to arrive until iOS 18.5 in May or June. Will Apple shift WWDC back a few weeks to accommodate that continued engineering work on iOS 18? I wouldn’t be surprised.
What to expect at WWDC 2025
Apple Intelligence is expected to be a big focus at WWDC this year. Bloomberg has reported that Apple will debut a new version of Siri as part of iOS 19 powered by advanced large language models, or LLMs. This new version of Siri will reportedly “behave more like a human” and perform like ChatGPT and Google’s Gemini.
There are also rumors that iOS 19 could draw design inspiration from visionOS. For example, one rumor suggests the Camera app could be set for its biggest design overhaul ever.
Bloomberg has also reported that Apple’s work on iOS 18 has postponed a “larger-than-usual number of features” until spring 2026. This means Apple could announce a lot of new features at WWDC 2025 that won’t be available until subsequent iOS 19 updates.

Will Apple announce new hardware at WWDC? We are still waiting on the M4 MacBook Air refresh, but that’s expected to occur before WWDC. Apple is also working on M4 updates to the Mac Studio and Mac Pro, both of which make strong candidates for WWDC announcements.
