Why is Apple taking so long to launch 2nd generation of AirTag? Explained

The tech giant Apple is always working on updating and upgrading its products and devices. So why have we not yet heard much about what’s next for Apple’s AirTag tracker device?

Since the device, which was launched in April 2021, is being well received by consumers, Apple is planning on launching AirTag 2. But we will need to wait a little while for that as it may take time.

As per reports, Apple does plan on introducing an updated version of AirTag, however, it will only be possible if the product continues to sell strong. Apple is currently observing AirTag’s demand in the market and will then decide whether it wants to launch a new one or not.

According to Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, around 20 million of AirTag devices were shipped in 2021, which is predicted to go up to 35 million in 2022.

If Apple continues to witness the growth, then it will start working on the second edition of AirTag.
