Toyota’s 2026 GR Supra Is a Sports Car Bargain
The Supra is a legendary nameplate, and when people heard that it was coming back, the excitement could be felt throughout the whole automotive world. While many were disappointed by the fact that it shares a ton of DNA with the BMW Z4, if you’re able to look past badges, the GR Supra is one of the best sports cars that you can buy today.
2026 Trims and Pricing
Model |
Starting MSRP |
---|---|
3.0 |
$56,900 |
3.0 Premium |
$60,050 |
MkV Final Edition |
$67,950 |
Toyota dropped the most affordable model of the GR Supra, which came with a less powerful turbocharged four-cylinder engine. While this raised the starting price by a decent amount, the GR Supra still sits among the most affordable sports cars you can buy in 2025. While it is definitely ready to tear up some corners, it is also soft and comfortable enough to take on road trips, which is why we would say it qualifies as a grand tourer.
If you weren’t aware, the current generation of the GR Supra is already on the chopping block, with 2026 set to be the final model year. We don’t know if this is because Toyota is gearing up for a new line of sports cars or because sales have dropped substantially in the last couple of years. Either way, the brand is offering a Final Edition model to commemorate the MkV Supra, that comes with plenty of performance upgrades and a unique look.
Comfort and Performance on a Budget
The 2025 Supra is a ridiculously good deal. If you look at its performance alone, there are very few two-seater sports cars that can deliver similar levels of performance and also compete with the Supra in terms of price. Even the Z4 convertible, which shares its engine with the Supra, is thousands more expensive if you opt for the three-liter turbocharged inline-six.
Beyond how fast it can go, the Supra is also designed to be driven and not tucked away in a garage for most days of the year. While it wears a Toyota badge on its steering wheel, much of the cabin is pulled from the Z4. While this may anger purists, it means that you get a comfortable interior designed for a luxury brand in your affordable sports car.

You’ll Feel Quite Happy Behind the Wheel of a Supra on Long Journeys
If you’re going to buy a sports car that you plan on driving regularly, especially one that you’d like to take on long journeys, it has to be comfortable. That is the whole point of grand tourers, delivering impressive performance but remaining comfortable. The GR Supra certainly checks these boxes, with plenty of features that make the cabin feel pretty luxurious.
Interior Comfort and Cargo
With the Supra sharing a lot of its DNA with the Z4, those familiar with BMW cabins will find themselves at home in Toyota’s sports car. Beyond sharing its engine and software with the German convertible, the GR Supra features a very similar interior design, with the main difference being the steering wheel, which is easily identifiable as coming from Toyota.
The GR Supra comes standard with a ton of comfort features, including 14-way power-adjustable seats. Heating for these seats is also standard. You can also get seats that utilize a combination of genuine leather and alcantara. There is also a decent amount of cargo space, accessed via the hatch at the back, and you can load up with a couple of bags for road trips.
Infotainment and Technology
Technology has become a big part of how we keep ourselves comfortable in our cars, and the GR Supra is loaded. It comes fitted with an 8.8-inch infotainment screen that sprouts up from the dashboard, which runs lightly reskinned BMW iDrive software. The premium model also comes with a full-color heads-up display. The only downside to this system is that it doesn’t support Android Auto.
A ten-speaker sound system is standard, but you can upgrade to a 12-speaker JBL system instead. If you stick with the base model and opt for the automatic transmission you don’t get a wireless smartphone charging pad, but every other model does. Dual-zone climate control is another standard feature, keeping both the driver and passenger comfortable.
Driver assists also help to make the GR Supra more comfortable when on your daily commute or when road tripping. The most important of these features is the adaptive cruise control, with higher trims coming with a stop-and-go function. The rest of Toyota’s extensive suite is also available.

A Brilliant Six-Cylinder Engine Sits Just Under the Hood
While cruising around in your Supra definitely sounds like fun, there are certainly going to be times when you want to find out just what it can do. When pushed hard, the Supra’s personality changes quickly, going from luxury coupe to one of the quickest sports cars on the market. All that aside, it is also just incredibly fun to drive, and you won’t find many cars quite as rewarding.

Back when the four-cylinder engine was still on offer, we still would have suggested that you make the jump to the inline-six. BMW’s powerplant is one of the most impressive and satisfying engines currently available, and it does wonders in the GR Supra. You can choose between an automatic and manual transmission, and while the former may be a bit quicker, the six-speed is so engaging and joyful that we think it’s a crime not to pick it.
The GR Supra has some insane levels of potential, with a finely tuned chassis, impressive steering feedback, and insane levels of grip. However, when you dial it back, the ride is comfortable and more than pliable enough for you to enjoy this sports car every day. Just note that it doesn’t handle things like snow particularly well. Toyota recognizes that you may want to test your limits, though, including a one-year membership to the National Auto Sport Association, which includes a high-performance driving experience.
The new MkV Final Edition dials things up a couple of notches, offering more impressive heights when it comes to performance. Beyond the visual updates, the Final Edition features larger brake calipers and performance dampers. Also on offer is an adaptive variable suspension system. We also think that people will look back on the GR Supra fondly, making this model a future classic in the making.

While fuel economy is not always seen as the most important factor when it comes to sports cars like this, the GR Supra is an affordable sports car and if you want to daily it, it can’t chug gas. If this is something that makes your list of priorities, it is important to note that the automatic transmission is much more efficient than models with the manual transmission. In either case, though, the GR Supra isn’t all that heavy on fuel, which is impressive if you consider the performance its capable of delivering.
