The Nike Apple Watch is nearly identical to standard models at the same price point but includes exclusive watch faces featuring Nike’s iconic font.
The Apple Watch can be customized through different casing materials, colors, sizes and bands — but there’s also a special edition model that includes exclusive watch faces at no additional cost. The Nike-branded Apple Watch adds a few perks over the standard Apple Watch, and it’s a no-brainer for buyers looking at an Aluminum Apple Watch model. Unfortunately, while there are many ways to make an Apple Watch unique, Apple still does not support third-party watch faces. However, to stand out, there are two ways to get special watch faces not found on a standard Apple Watch — owning the special edition Nike or Hermes Apple Watch models.
The collaboration between Nike and Apple was formed long before the Apple Watch was released and goes back decades. Longtime Apple users might recall Nike+ iPod, an application that brought fitness tracking to early iPod models. The two brands worked together to create a small pod that fit into select Nike shoes. This pod would sync to a transmitter connected to the iPod through the 30-pin Dock Connector and share fitness and activity data. Since the Apple Watch was released, the technology has matured to bring Nike fitness tracking to Apple’s popular smartwatch. Anyone can download the Nike+ Run Club and Nike Training Club apps to their Apple Watch, but the Nike-branded watch has exclusive watch faces and other features.
Purchasing a Nike Apple Watch is a no-brainer for those looking for an Apple Watch made of aluminum because the Nike Watch adds additional watch faces at no extra cost. Users can purchase the Nike Apple Watch for the latest Apple Watch model or the more affordable Apple Watch SE models. On the hardware side, virtually no physical differences were found on the Nike Apple Watch from the standard edition. The only noticeable change is the Nike branding on the back of the watch — near the device’s optical sensor — which won’t be visible when the Apple Watch is worn. However, the Nike version includes exclusive watch faces that users can only use on Nike Apple Watches.
Nike’s Watch Faces Feature The Company’s Iconic Font
The Nike Apple Watch can be ordered with a Nike-branded watch band, opening up the number of options that users can select at the time of purchase. This isn’t the reason to buy a Nike Apple Watch, though, as anyone can purchase Nike bands as a standalone accessory on Apple’s retail store. Instead, a line of exclusive watch faces that feature Nike’s iconic fonts separates the Nike Apple Watch from the standard version. In addition, new Nike faces are routinely added to the company’s special edition Apple Watch, including the most recent Bounce watch face, which depicts a bouncing digital time that moves with the smartwatch. Even if a user doesn’t plan to use these exclusive watch faces, there is no downside to purchasing the Nike Apple Watch — it includes all the features of a standard Apple Watch and more.
Apple markets the Nike Apple Watch to runners who prefer the Nike+ Run Club app — which offers a fun user interface and community interaction between users. Although the Nike+ Run Club app comes pre-installed on Nike-branded Apple Watches, it is not exclusive to these models. Anyone can download the Nike+ Run Club app to their Apple Watch, and users can uninstall the Nike+ Run Club app from Nike-branded watches. That makes the key difference between the Nike Apple Watch and the standard version come down to the availability of watch faces. With all other things equal, there’s no reason not to get the Nike Apple Watch’s exclusive faces for the exact cost as the standard versions of the Apple Watch.
