Xgimi’s New Projectors Are Netflix-Certified Out Of The Box

CES 2024 is underway, and Xgimi is here with a pair of new projectors. While the new 4K Horizon Max long-throw projector boasts IMAX certification and is Xgimi’s brightest-ever projector, the Alladin is a 3-in-1 ceiling light with a Bluetooth speaker and projector built-in. Thanks to Xgimi moving from Android TV to Google TV, Netflix is also supported on these new projectors, unlike its previous models that required sideloading the streaming app.

Besides producing up to 3,100 ISO lumens from its “Dual Light 2.0” laser and LED hybrid light sight, the 4K Horizon Max is also the first Xgimi projector to boast IMAX Enhanced certification. This means that it is compatible with IMAX Enhanced content from providers such as Disney+.

The “Dual Light 2.0” technology comprises a trio of lasers for extended color range and a phosphor light to enhance imperfections. Ultra brightness levels of up to 3,100 ISO lumens are projected with a 2000:1 contrast ratio. Compared to its predecessor, the Horizon Ultra, the 4K Horizon Max offers a 35% boost in brightness.

One of the main pain points when it comes to long-throw projectors, such as the 4K Horizon Max above, is where to mount the device so that it’s not in the way or taking up valuable space. A dedicated ceiling mount is fine for a media room, but what about a regular living room or perhaps the bedroom? Xgimi’s solution is the Aladdin, which puts a 1080p projector, 360-degree Harman Kardon Bluetooth speaker, and a ceiling light together as a single device.

Capable of throwing a 100-inch picture in 1080p resolution, the Alladin fits a regular light socket on the ceiling and can be controlled via the included remote or via the Xgimi app on your smartphone. The Harman Kardan Bluetooth speaker can be used independently of the projector, a handy bonus. Google TV is once again the operating system in use, so you have all the apps available in the Play Store, and there are no issues with Netflix certification.

“We are deeply honoured to receive a prestigious CES Innovation Honoree Award, underscoring the groundbreaking technological advancements we’ve pioneered with Aladdin. Its seamless integration of an HD projector, smart light, and premium audio experience, encapsulates our mission of delivering unparalleled home entertainment experiences to the masses. We look forward to building on this success and driving further Smart Home innovation in 2024 and beyond.”

For now, Xgimi hasn’t revealed how much the 4K Horizon Max or the Alladin Ceiling Projector will cost, although it states that the former will be priced under $3,000 with shipping due sometime in “late 2024.” We’ll post an update when Xgimi gives out more information on this.

Would you buy a ceiling lamp that pulls triple-duty as a projector and Bluetooth speaker without broadcasting its purpose? And does adding built-in support for Netflix now make buying a projector a viable option? Let us know in the comments below.

Xgimi has announced that in 2024, its premium range of projectors will use MediaTek’s cutting-edge chips and is also collaborating with Google TV for its upcoming products. This should mean that we’ll see native Netflix support on upcoming devices this year, which has been a sticking point when recommending Xgimi projectors.
