The Xiaomi 14 Civi Will Be One The Best Camera Phones In Its Segment
With the Xiaomi 14 Civi, the company is taking a different approach than it did in China. It’s marketing the Civi moniker as “Cinematic Vision,” owing to the Leica co-engineered cameras. If priced competitively, the 14 Civi has the potential to become the best camera smartphone in its segment. The selfie department is also equally good – courtesy of the twin front shooters.
Talking about the Xiaomi 14 Civi’s rear cameras first, it has a triple camera setup. For the primary camera, the company has used a customized Light Fusion 800 sensor with a Leica Summilux lens. It’s joined by a 50MP Samsung JN1 telephoto for portraits and a 12MP 120-degree sensor for ultra-wide shots.
At the front, the Xiaomi 14 Civi has a pill-shaped cutout to house dual 32 MP selfie cameras; one with a 78-degree FoV and an f/2.0 aperture and the other with a 100-degree FoV and an f/2.4 aperture. The front shooters also support 4K video recording, EIS, live voice subtitles, and more, making this phone an attractive option for vloggers and selfie lovers.
Other Specifications and Features
Under the hood, the Xiaomi 14 Civi rocks the newly launched Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset. It is a cheaper alternative to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and also powers the recently launched Poco F6 series. Besides, you get up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB of UFS 4.0 storage.
At the front, the phone has a 6.55-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 2750 x 1236, a refresh rate of up to 120Hz, and a pixel density of 460 PPI. The display also supports Dolby Vision and receives additional protection with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on top. Both the display and the rear are slightly curved from all four sides so the phone feels comfortable in hands.
Talking about aesthetics, the Xiaomi 14 Civi is 7.45mm thin and weighs just 179 grams. Xiaomi says that it will have the “slimmest and thinnest design” in its segment. The phone will be available in three colorways: Cruise Blue, or the “Dual-Slice Edition,” Matcha Green, or the “Nano-Tech Vegan Leather Edition,” and Shadow Black, the “Classic Matte Edition.”
Moreover, the 14 Civi houses a 4,700 mAh battery with a maximum charging speed of 67W, which should fully charge the phone in approximately 40 minutes. The battery also sees an improved lifespan, offering up to 1600 charge cycles.
Availability, Pricing, and More
The Xiaomi 14 Civi will be launched in India on June 12 and will go on sale later on Flipkart and Mi.com. While its pricing hasn’t been revealed yet, we expect it to sit in the ₹50,000 ($600) segment there. For comparison, the Xiaomi Civi 4 Pro starts at 2,999 Yuan ($416) in China.
When the Xiaomi Civi 4 Pro launched, we reported a leak stating that the phone could be launched in India with a different name—which has now come true. Unfortunately, the rumor also suggested that the phone won’t be launched in other countries. So, if you live anywhere other than China or India, chances are you’ll have to skip the Xiaomi 14 Civi.
