Xiaomi’s insanely quick 200W HyperCharge technology can charge your phone in just 8 minutes

The other day I switched from using the OnePlus 9 Pro to Xiaomi’s Mi 11i which meant getting used to just 33W charging instead of the ultra-fast 65W sported by OnePlus’s flagship phone. It’s a first-world problem for sure, especially when you consider that many smartphones are stuck on 10W or 18W charging. But what if the difference in output was greater, such as 100W, or perhaps the ludicrously quick 200W HyperCharge fast-charging that was demonstrated by Xiaomi?

Yup, you read that right. Xiaomi demonstrated its new 200W HyperCharge technology that is capable of charging a 4,000mAh battery in just 8 minutes. The video above shows the battery reaching 10% in a single minute, 50% in 7 minutes, and 100 in just 15 minutes with wireless charging. Wired HyperCharge charging reveals insane charging times such as 10% in 44 seconds, 50% in 3 minutes, and a full charge in just under 8 minutes.

It should be noted that the HyperCharge is just a demonstration of what is capable and isn’t anywhere near ready for general release. This isn’t the first time that the smartphone brand has demonstrated monstrous charging speeds, the company showed off its 120W charging but decided to cap its output due to concerns about its impact on the batteries which showed increased signs of wear. Subsequently, Xiaomi has capped its current charging technology to 67W, which is still pretty darn quick.
