Disney Bundle Subscribers Can Now Rely On One App For Twice The Content
If you stream a lot of content, it makes sense that you might have more than one streaming service subscription. If Hulu and Disney+ are any of them, then it makes sense for you to hop onto the Disney Bundle, a plan that gives you Disney+, Hulu, and an optional ESPN+ subscription in one fell swoop.
Before, even as a Disney Bundle subscriber, you’d need to download the Disney+ application and use the existing Hulu app to watch each service’s respective content. However, that’s about to change for the better. All of Disney+ and Hulu’s libraries will now be melded under one roof for Disney Bundle subscribers in the United States. Plus, if, for some reason, you have two separate subscriptions to each of these services, you still get to watch Hulu in the Disney+ app.
However, even with this change, the two services will not be combining. They will remain separate libraries, so a regular Disney+ subscription will not give you access to Hulu shows like The Bear, Shogun, and Only Murders in the Building.
How Much Does A Disney Bundle Plan Cost?
If this sounds good to you, you need to know that you can choose from three Disney Bundle plans. Some come with ads in your content, and some don’t. Here’s how the three plans play out:
- Disney Bundle Duo Basic: This bundle includes Disney+ and Hulu, both with ads. It costs $9.99/month.
- Disney Bundle Trio Basic: This bundle includes Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+, all with ads. It costs $14.99/month.
- Disney Bundle Trio Premium includes Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+. Only ESPN+ has ads. It costs $24.99/month.
What’s The History Behind Disney And Hulu?
The Walt Disney Company has been a stakeholder in Hulu since 2009, and in 2019, when Disney bought 21st Century Fox, it moved to an ownership share of the streaming platform. Eventually, Comcast and Disney were the only stakeholders left, with a 33% and 67% split, respectively, but as of late 2023, Disney finally bought Comcast’s stake for full ownership of Hulu.
Knowing all this, it makes sense why Disney might not want two separate streaming platforms when they can simply bundle the content under one roof and make things easier for consumers.
