You can now buy Spotify’s Car Thing in the US for $90

It may not be the perennially out-of-stock Motorola MA1 Android Auto dongle but Spotify’s Car Thing is actually available to buy. After a drawn-out invite process, Spotify has finally announced that you no longer have to queue and can instead order the Car Thing directly from the company for $89.99.

In basic terms, the Car Thing brings Spotify to your driving experience, connecting to your car via Bluetooth or an auxiliary jack and then behaving like a touch-screen controller for the Spotify app but without the distractions that come with a smartphone. Naturally, you will need a Premium subscription to Spotify in order to make use of the Car Thing,

Once hooked up, you’ll be able to ask, tap, turn, or swipe your way to songs, artists, playlists, and the podcasts you want to hear while your phone takes care of navigation. You can mount it on the air vent, the disc slot, or the dashboard via the various mounts that are included in the box along with a cigarette lighter adapter, USB charging cable, and user guide.
