Sony just unveiled the PlayStation 5 Pro, a new model of its latest console that has improved specifications at a price point that’s turning out to be a bit controversial. However, if you don’t have $700 to spare, Sony is rolling out some software features to the regular PS5.
Sony has released a significant update for the PlayStation 5. The update includes a new personalized space called Welcome Hub, which allows you to customize your home screen with widgets and backgrounds. The Welcome hub provides a dedicated space for users to access information at a glance. It offers a variety of customizable widgets, including console storage, battery levels, online friends, and trophies. You can also change the background with designs or personal screenshots.
Party sharing, on the other hand, enables easy sharing of party voice chat links on messaging and social media apps. Additionally, the update brings features previously tested by beta testers. These include personalized 3D audio profiles for headphones and earbuds, adjustable Remote Play settings for individual users, and adaptive charging for controllers (available for the slimmer PS5 model and upcoming PS5 Pro).
Personalized 3D audio profiles create a tailored audio experience based on individual hearing characteristics. You can run sound quality tests to analyze various factors and create an audio profile that optimizes your 3D audio experience. Remote Play settings can now be adjusted for each user, allowing control over who can access the console remotely. Adaptive charging helps conserve power by adjusting the charging duration based on the controller’s battery level.
These features are now rolling out through software updates. Make sure to keep an eye out for them over the coming weeks.
