Your Verizon bill will be more expensive from June 16th onwards

Verizon must have heard you saying that you had way too much disposable cash the other day (well someone must have said it) and has responded by announcing that it’s going to increase your bill starting from June 16th onwards. Why? Well, it’s because the carrier is following the trend or its execs can’t afford a new beach house, or probably just because it can. So it has.

Bloomberg reports that Verizon will raise prices for its wireless products with increases of $1,35 for consumers and $2.20 for businesses, per voice line. This means that for a family of four with a Verizon voice line each that the increase will come to $5.40. The increase will be displayed on bills under the “economic adjustment charge” moniker and will commence on June 16th, with the carrier already having begun notifying customers.

It’s never great news to pay more but spare a thought for AT&T subscribers who are faced with older consumer plans going up by $6 for single lines and $12 for families. The Verizon increase still sucks, but it could have been worse.

The increase is being blamed on inflation pressure, and while I’d like to think that when inflation comes down again that the likes of AT&T and Verizon will announce the corresponding bill reductions, I’m thinking that the price hike is here to stay.
