YouTube Has a New Way to Share Channels

Google has announced that anyone on YouTube, whether a creator or just a viewer, can share their channel link with a QR code. You could already do it with an external tool, but now it’s a one-tap option in the official app.

Nearly any link can be embedded into QR codes you see every day on product boxes, ads, stickers, etc. Other people can scan these codes with their device’s built-in camera app to visit the underlying ULL, which in YouTube’s case, is a channel link. There’s not yet an option to generate QR codes for individual videos, but you can do that with any QR code generator or the Chrome web browser.

To find your channel’s QR code, open the mobile YouTube app for iOS or Android and select the You tab at the bottom, then “Share channel” under your handle at the top (you may need to swipe left to reveal the option), and select “QR code.” Doing so brings up your channel’s QR code. A friend can then scan the code using their device’s camera to visit your channel. There’s also the option at the bottom to save the QR code to your camera roll as an image. This lets you easily share your channel QR code with large swathes of people on social media.

You can also generate a QR code for someone else’s channel. Open the YouTube app, tap the three-dot menu in the top-right corner, then choose Share > QR Code.

You can scan QR codes on nearly any device with a camera, including Android, iOS, and Windows 11. On an iPhone or iPad, you can scan QR codes with the built-in Camera app and through the Control Center. iOS and Android owners can also use Chrome to scan QR codes.
