YouTube is testing a €7 Premium Lite plan that lets you skip the ads and YouTube Music

How many times have you wished that you could just pay to have the ads removed from your YouTube viewing experience without needing to pay the $11.99/€11.99 monthly charge for the Premium plan that includes YouTube Music? It seems that YouTube is finally doing something about this gap in its subscription offerings because a Premium Lite plan is being tested in selected European countries that simply removes the ads from YouTube and YouTube for Kids for €6.99 monthly.

When I say it removes ads from your YouTube viewing experience for €6.99, that’s all the Premium Lite plan brings to the table. You’ll need to pay for the full-featured Premium plan to make use of offline downloads, background playback, and YouTube Music Premium.

“In Nordics and Benelux (except for Iceland), we’re testing a new offering to give users even more choice: Premium Lite costs €6.99/month (or local equivalent per month) and it includes ad-free videos on YouTube.”

The Premium Lite plan removes adverts from your YouTube viewing experience on all platforms, just don’t expect to have access to any other feature that is included in the Premium plan. Is €6.99 monthly worth it just to have ads removed from YouTube? Honestly, it doesn’t sound like it’s great value for money and YouTube is cutting out a lot of features for a $5 saving. Still, it’s just in the testing phase in Belgium, Finland, Denmark, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, and Sweden for now and YouTube may tweak the plan before it’s rolled out globally.
