Sporting what we described as the best phone design of 2022 in our review, ZTE’s Axon 40 Ultra is now on sale globally with pricing starting from $799/€829 for the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1-powered smartphone. ZTE has also given details on the level of software support it will provide for the Axon 30 and 40 series of smartphones, so join us after the break for more.

The Axon 40 Ultra is now on sale and can be purchased directly from ZTE’s online store for $799/€829/£709, depending on your region. At the time of writing, it didn’t appear to be listed on Amazon (US or UK), but we’ll check back and update if this changes. ZTE says that the Axon 40 Ultra is available in the following locations:
North America: Canada, United States (56 of 62 states – American Samoa, Guam, Hawaii, Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands not included)
Europe: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czechia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain (50 of 52 provinces), Sweden
Middle East: Israel, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates

Africa: South Africa (8 of 9 provinces) It’s unclear why the Axon 40 Ultra is only being sold in 8 of South Africa’s 9 provinces.
Software Support
ZTE is promising security patches every three months for its Axon 30 and Axon 40 series going forward, and states that the ‘latest Android version would be updated at the end of August, 2022’. We are taking the ‘latest Android version’ as referring to Android 13 seeing as the Axon 40 Ultra launched running the Android 12-based MyOS software.
