Gameloft’s Asphalt 9: Legends Is Now Optimized For Honor’s Magic V2 Series

When you think of foldables, you might not necessarily associate them with gaming. Still, you really should because, in some games, the extra viewing area can give you a distinct advantage over the player squinting at his 6.1-inch handset. Of course, most games don’t make the best use of the unfolded display on phones, such as the recently reviewed Magic V2, but Honor and Gameloft have partnered up to optimize Asphalt 9: Legends on the handset.

Speed And Responsiveness

The partnership between Honor and Gameloft is to help push the launch of the new Porsche Design Magic V2 RSR, which is the Magic V2 with a different aesthetic but virtually the same hardware. This means that there’s a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset providing the necessary grunt with 16GB of RAM for assistance.

The newly optimized Asphalt 9: Legends racing game will now benefit from several performance tweaks, which include being able to experience 120FPS during play. This means the action will be slick, smooth, and oh-so-responsive.

Considering how much I already loved using the Magic V2 in my review and how much I enjoy racing games, I’m looking forward to experiencing the optimized gameplay when the update rolls out to the Play Store.

Under The Hood

While the support for 120FPS will get the headlines, of equal importance are the changes that you can’t see that will impact gameplay just as much. Work has been done to overhaul the mobile game rendering process, using shader replacement technology and using AI to integrate the graphics rendering capabilities of the Magic V2 series of foldables.

Honor is keen to point out that this is the first time a game has been specifically optimized for the foldable platform, with the adaptation of Asphalt 9: Legends exclusively available to the Magic V2 and the Porsche Design variant.

Hopefully, this optimization of games to make the best use of foldables is something we will see more of during 2024, although we hope that they will be accessible for all foldables, regardless of brand.

“Our newest collaboration with Gameloft to optimise gaming on the PORSCHE DESIGN HONOR Magic V2 RSR is a testament to our commitment to creating the best foldable user experience for HONOR device users. By pursuing collaborations that advance hardware and software integration for foldable devices, HONOR aims to create a mutually beneficial ecosystem that provides consumers with the most cutting-edge technology.
