The Motorola Edge 50 Fusion Has Some Solid Mid-Range Specs
The Motorola Edge Fusion series isn’t an entirely new concept. There was a Motorola Edge 30 Fusion in 2022, but no model to follow up in 2023. It might have seemed like the lineage was dead, but 2024 seems set to bring life back to the series with Edge 50 Fusion.
Thanks to reliable tipster Evan Blass on X, we know a bit about the Edge 50 Fusion and what it’ll bring to the table both under the hood and outside. The device will have a 6.7-inch OLED display (no info on the resolution or refresh rate) protected with Gorilla Glass 5 and IP68 weather resistance. The phone is expected to come in three colors: Peacock Pink, Ballad Blue, and Tidal Teal. Ballad Blue will use a vegan leather finish, though it’s not certain whether the others will be plastic or another material.
Inside, there’ll be a Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 with 256GB of storage and a 5,000 mAh battery. The phone will support up to 68W wired charging. While it will likely have more than just two cameras, Evan revealed that the selfie camera will be 32MP and the primary lens on the back will be 50MP. The specs look set up for a really solid mid-range device, and hopefully, the price will follow appropriately.
The Edge 50 Fusion Looks Likely To Land On April 3rd
Yesterday, Motorola sent a “Save The Date” email informing the world that they had a device in the pipeline for launch in India on April 3rd. Of course, it was a wild guessing game trying to figure out what smartphone they planned to launch on that day, and most thought it’d be the Edge 50 Pro, but it all makes sense now that we know of the existence of the Edge 50 Fusion.
The graphic sent out by Motorola has a line that says, “Witness the fusion of art and intelligence.” Mobile companies are very on the nose with things like this, so I’m wagering a lot that the word “fusion” is not just a mere coincidence. The only question I have is whether the company will choose to surprise us with another device on that day.
Lenovo Wants To Make Motorola Great Again
Motorola made the first cellphone, and the company is pretty important in the history of mobile devices. However, as feature phones became smartphones, they started to lose some of their spark.
However, after their acquisition by Lenovo, they have had new life breathed into them. In fact, Lenovo made the bold claim that Motorola will be a top-three smartphone brand by 2027, and we’re looking forward to seeing if that will happen.
